Social justice driven Business Marketing Specialist (Washington, DC Area)

We are seeking a Marketing Specialist to develop and execute integrated marketing and business development support strategies to increase awareness and visibility for Community Science and drive our growth as an influential social justice driven business. We will rely on your knowledge, skills, and experience in marketing, strategic communications, social/digital media, lead management and proposal development to establish a marketing and business development function to promote our products and services and advance our social justice mission. The position has responsibility for the Community Science website, newsletter and all branded social media platforms; marketing collateral and public relations; lead generation and tracking, and proposal development.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • In collaboration with the corporate team and practice leads, develops and executes a comprehensive, integrated marketing and communications plan, including an annual calendar to support Community Science's growth plan and goals
  • Effectively leverages for the company's benefit the broader marketing and communications environment, monitoring trends, channels, technology, tools, best practices and metrics, appropriately applying them to meet Community Science's goals
  • Identifies and manages appropriate authors and speakers to create and deliver content across all channels, including webinars, publications and conferences
  • Actively participates in a wide variety of social media activities such as blogging, Twitter feeds, development and management of the Sense of Community online community
  • Manages the Community Science website, and serves as primary liaison with website vendor when needed
  • Works with internal staff and external consultants to market and execute public relations projects; fields/responds to media calls and coordinates responses among various stakeholders as needed
  • Organizes, maintains and, when appropriate, authors corporate capability statements and other standard text for use in proposals
  • Works with key staff and outside vendors on updates to marketing collateral design or content, and serves as primary liaison with print designers
  • Identify and monitor public and private lead generation mechanisms such as FedBizOpps and GovWin for federal business opportunities and the Chronicle of Philanthropy and organizational websites for philanthropic and other nonprofit clients; summarizes and circulates information on opportunities to appropriate sector lead

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree (four year college) required; business, marketing or communications degree strongly preferred
  • 2-5 years of experience working in marketing and business development for a growth oriented professional services organization, preferably in the social and health research and evaluation industry
  • Strong writing and presentation skills, with the ability to analyze and condense complex information
  • Experience managing content using multiple communications platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, blogs, newsletters and news releases
  • Knowledge of website technologies and content management experience
  • Marketing collateral and proposal development experience
  • Self-starter, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated commitment to Community Science's mission to use knowledge to build healthy, just and equitable communities.
